Beckham Hits Tops Bins as Guild Esports Signs Valorant Roster

Guild Esports has announced its first entry into the shooter space with the pickup of a new Valorant roster.

Guild Esports has acquired the Swedish roster, Bonk. The roster most recently came second place at the LVL Clash 2, part of the Ignition Series. Only losing out to G2 Esports in the final. The new roster will compete for the first time at the Riot Games First Strike Europe event. The main event will take place between December 3–6.

The team will consist of a five-man roster; Yacine  ‘Yacine’ Laghmari, Malkolm ‘bonkar’ Rench, Leo ‘Leo’ Janneson, William ‘draken’ Sundin, and Filip ‘Goffe’ Gauffin. The all Swedish roster will now be looking to take their early success and push on with the backing of Guild Esports.

“Joining the Valorant community is a perfect step for Guild and we are delighted to expand into the new exciting and emerging esports space”. Said Carleton Curtis, Executive Chairman at Guild. “With these signings, Guild has established itself as a multi-disciplinary esports business”. Curtis continued. Adding Guild were looking forward “to fielding rosters in new games as we continue to scale and invest in our business utilizing the war chest we raised in our IPO”.

David Beckham has a 40% stake in the side, with the organization using his likeness (at a cost of a cool £20m) to help push the organization forward.

A growing roster of teams

The Valorant roster will join Guild’s Rocket League and FIFA rosters as the organization continues to expand post IPO offering. Guild Esports has had decent success in Rocket Leauge thus far, though they’ve yet to take any titles to date. Most recently they fell short in the RLCS EU Major, being knocked out in groups.

As for FIFA, they’ve only played in the eChampions League 2020 Invitational in FIFA 21, with NRaseck finishing in third place. With FIFA 21 now released, the organization will be looking to make headway in.
