The Yabo Supreme Cup is a rather small Dota 2 tournament
which will run from tomorrow, Friday the 13th, through until Sunday
the 15th of December and features eight teams of varying talent
fighting for a prize pool of approximately $70,000. While the tournament may
not be considered big by the standards of prize pool, it does have some very
well-known teams and players involved. Early in December we saw an extremely
interesting stack form in the Southeast Asia region; featuring Ng ‘YamateH’ Wei
Poong, Khoo ‘Ohaiyo’ Chong Xin and Chai ‘Mushi’ Yee Fung – named Brothers
United. This squad had their first appearance at the DreamLeague Season 13
qualifiers, but after failing to reach the Minor and Major, they return this weekend.
Other big names include the likes of SEA squad Team Adroit,
Chinese squad Royal Never Give Up and the CIS roster of Team Spirit. These
teams, as well as Spark Arrow Gaming, Dota My Goal, Blaze and Apollo, will all
begin their battle to be crowned champions of the Yabo Supreme Cup tomorrow.
With the ONE Esports World Pro Invitational beginning next week, this tournament gives us all a nice filler of Dota 2 action and a chance to see the smaller teams in action beyond the qualifiers. With a host of best-of-three series in a double elimination bracket, the event is sure to see some fantastic series between all eight teams involved.
