Call of Duty League 2020 – Dream Team

After looking back on the season, we’ve put together a Call of Duty League Dream Team — our 2020 Team of the Year

The inaugural Call of Duty League season was one full of many surprises. Young players came in and showed they could make the step up to the CDL, while vetran players proved they could still keep up with the speed of the game. Here, we’ve created a team of the best players from the 2020 season.

Sam “Octane” Larew – Seattle Surge

Octane was without a doubt the best Assault Rifle player in the Modern Warfare season. He finished the season with a 1.25 overall K/D while playing for the Seattle Surge, a bottom of the League team. Larew lived up to his nickname the “Human Turret” as he held down power positions and dominated lanes of the map throughout the year. Octane achieved an enormous 1.42 overall K/D at the London Royal Ravens Home Series, and his ability with the Sniper was essential in SnD.

Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris – Atlanta FaZe

aBeZy was our 2020 Call of Duty League Player of the Year and he fully deserves the award. Pharris was a vital part of Atlanta FaZe’s season and he was by far the best entry player in the league. His first bloods and entry kills were better than any other, and aBeZy had the ice to clutch up when needed. His massive 1.30 overall K/D at an event where the 10mm rounds were GA’d was exceptional, and puts him in the Team of the Year.

Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro – Dallas Empire

Shotzzy was the 2020 Call of Duty League regular season MVP. He had an incredible redemption arc throughout his rookie Call of Duty season, turning a 0.80 K/D on the opening weekend to a World Championship win. Shotzzy finished the season with the highest overall K/D on the Dallas Empire at 1.07, and his movement was unmatched by any other player.

Chris “Simp” Lehr – Atlanta FaZe

Simp was the 2019 CWL MVP and he entered the Modern Warfare season with the same goals. With a 1.16 overall K/D, Simp led the line for Atlanta FaZe all season and placed himself near the top of the stats charts with the AR players. Simp excelled in Search and Destroy, with a 1.31 overall K/D, this was the highest in the league.

McArthur “Cellium” Jovel – Atlanta FaZe

Cellium was one of the best Flex players in the 2020 Modern Warfare season. He performed to the highest level with both the MP5 and M4 all season and his 1.10 overall K/D was second on the Atlanta FaZe behind Simp. Cellium was known for showing up in the big games, and his ability to finesse around objects within the map. He is also one of the smartest players in the league, discovering new mechanics with ease throughout the year.

Each of these players made a real impact on 2020’s CDL, that’s why we chose them to create our unofficial team of the year. With so much raw skill and talent between them, we’re excited to see where 2021 will take them, in each of their respective teams.
