EA, NHL, NHLPA Announce Multi-Year Renewal

EA, the NHL, and the NHL Players’ Association have signed a multi-year renewal of their partnership to continue enabling EA Sports to produce the officially licensed NHL video game franchise.

Earlier this year, EA secured a renewal of its licensing contract with the NFL. The publisher also produces the officially licensed FIFA titles.

Like many of the major U.S. traditional sports leagues, the NHL operates its own esports structure, albeit on a smaller scale than something like the NBA 2K League. However, the league has steadily increased its activity and seen participation from many of the teams in its system. It has also been able to expand on its brand deals with the likes of Honda and Great Clips through its esports activity.
