ESL One Germany is the next big online tournament on the Dota 2 schedule, bringing together through the month of October a total of 16 teams from Europe and CIS to battle for a share of the $400,000.

With four slots up for grabs via regional qualifiers, the organizers have already confirmed 11 teams that will grace the event, and have one more name to be announced at a later date.

ESL One Germany will unfold October 5 to November 1 and will bring back for the group stage a rarely used format in Dota 2 competitions. The 16 teams will start the battle in a Swiss format, 5 rounds of best-of-three matches, where 3 wins will grant a spot to the playoffs. However, only half of the participants will make the cut to the next stage as the playoff bracket will feature just eight squads. The playoff stage will be played in the traditional double elimination bracket format, best-of-three series and best-of-five grand finals.

The closed regional qualifiers will take place September 25 – 27 with eight teams fighting for one of the four spots into the tournament. A total of four teams will receive invites for the closed regionals, while four more will join them via open brackets. The open qualifier will take place in two legs with unlimited slots for those who want to give it a shot.
