Riot Games Korea announced Thursday that its 2020 Woori Bank LoL Champions Korea (LCK) Summer competition will once again switch to online matches starting Aug. 21. The decision was made to align with the new social distancing measures put in place for the Seoul metropolitan area by the South Korean Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters in reaction to an increase in COVID-19 cases.
The LCK is currently in its last week of regular season play before the season’s playoffs and regional qualifiers for the League of Legends World Championship start on Wednesday next week, and all will be held online. While the league’s broadcasting teams will continue working from LoL Park, the studio in which the LCK is normally recorded, Riot Games Korea decided to suspend its analyst desk until further notice.
