League of Legends: Team Liquid Re-Signs Jensen For Three More Years

Team Liquid will keep mid laner Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen on its League of Legends roster for three more years, the esports organization revealed yesterday. The 25-year-old first joined Team Liquid ahead of the 2019 season, following a three-year tenure with Cloud9. Team Liquid has claimed two domestic titles since Jensen’s initial signing.

Jensen signed on with Team Liquid in 2018, prior to the 2019 LCS season. The Danish native took over the team’s mid lane position after a successful year on Cloud9. In his first year with the team, Team Liquid took home both the LCS 2019 Spring and Summer split titles. While the team crushed domestically, they also made strides in the international scene, placing second at the Mid-Season Invitational.

Liquid struggled to maintain their form in 2020 after their release of jungler Jake “Xmithie” Puchero. The team finished ninth in the LCS 2020 Spring split, managing only a 7-11 win-loss record over the regular season. Liquid found some form in the Summer season, finishing third and securing a spot in the World Championship. The team was eliminated from the group stage in 9-12th place, the same result of their 2019 Worlds run.

Liquid will now hold onto the mid laner for three more years, as announced yesterday. According to journalist Travis Gafford, the deal is worth $4.2 million, one of the highest in LCS history.

Jensen and Team Liquid will return for the LCS’s 2021 season, which is expected to begin early next year.
