Los Angeles Gladiators Sign Two-time Champion Moth

The Los Angeles Gladiators continue to have a successful offseason heading into the 2021 Overwatch League season. After shoring up a few positions recently, it was the Gladiators who came out on top by securing possibly the best main support player in the world, Grant “moth” Espe. Moth is a back-to-back Grand Finals champion with the San Francisco Shock and was an integral part of the team’s wonderful success.

Moth has been with the San Francisco Shock since the inaugural 2018 season. It was his superb play in 2019 that helped the Shock rise to the top of professional Overwatch, but Moth largely flew under-the-radar for most of the year. Fortunately, people finally took notice of his stellar play and he kept it up for the entirety of 2020 where he once again helped the Shock defend their title and become the league’s first ever back-to-back champs.

Moth was also an integral part of Team USA’s 2019 Overwatch World Cup championship squad as they were the first team apart from South Korea to ever win the World Cup. His impact on the game simply cannot be understated.

This is the third major signing for the Gladiators this offseason. They secured one of the best main tank talents from Overwatch Contenders in Young-hun “MuZe” Kim and signed  Jin-seo “Shu” Kim following his release from the Guangzhou Charge. With the Gladiators able to court Moth to join their roster, they look like an already scary team heading into the upcoming season.

Moth and Shu make a terrifying backline for the Los Angeles Gladiators that, on paper, already look better than they ever have. Securing a top flex support talent like Shu was huge, but couple that with arguably the best main support in the world, and the Gladiators have a support duo up there with the best of the league. It’s going to be exciting to see how they fare in the 2021 season.
