Popular Spanish League of Legends team MAD Lions have parted ways with top-laner Andrei “Orome” Popa. He’s played with MAD Lions since November 2019 and is now looking for new opportunities for the upcoming season.
Saying goodbye to top-laner Orome
Oromoe found his way switching through teams since starting his professional League of Legends career in 2016. The most recent teams he’s been a part of include then-Splyce, academy team Splyce Vipers, and academy team MAD Lions Madrid. He found plenty of success in 2018, winning titles under Italian team Outplayed and now disbanded team Wind and Rain Balkan. He’s had a tough time finding much success with MAD Lions. However, he did help the team qualify for this year’s World Championship.
Things quickly turned around once the team failed to defeat SuperMassive and get past the Play-In Stage. This failure pushed their coach Peter Dun to depart the team, eventually changing their roster for the upcoming year.
Replacements and new faces
As soon as the free agency window opened, MAD Lions made moves to replace their top-laner and jungler. Orome will now be replaced by SuperMassive’s top-laner İrfan “Armut” Berk Tükek. Additionally, their jungler Zhiqiang “Shad0w” Zhao will also be replaced by Movistar Rider jungler Javier “Elyoya” Prades.
The rest of the MAD Lions roster will remain the same for now, but there aren’t any promises at the moment since the free agency period just started. In MAD Lions’ farewell tweet, they thank Orome for his hard work and dedication throughout this year. Paired with the tweet is a montage of clips showcasing his time with the team. Fans of Orome commented on the post, bidding their farewells to the well loved top-laner.
There are currently no known offers for Orome, but that may change soon considering that teams are only a few days into the free agency window. Stick with Daily Esports for more League of Legends news and updates.
