Respawn has announced more information about when we can expect the start of the highly-anticipated Apex Legends Season 3 launch.
The developer has announced that Apex Legends Season 3: Meltdown will kick off on 1st October around the world, bringing new Legend, Crypto, a brand new battle pass to grind through, and Series 2 of Ranked play.
If previous Seasons are anything to go by, the new season will launch at roughly 6pm UK time – we'll keep you updated as we learn more.
The thing most players are excited about seems to be the newest character that will be added to the game, following Wattson and Octane in previous seasons.
Crypto's abilities will involve deploying "specialised surveillance drones to stay in the fight and out of the spotlight", as per the developer.
The latest 'Stories from the Outlands' video dumps a bit of exposition the new character, in case you were keen to learn more about the newcomer.
A GameStop conference leak previously suggested that we're going to see a weapon change, too.
The Charge Rifle will apparently be added to the game, though we don't know an awful lot of information about that at the time of writing – all we know is that it is an “obliterating directed-energy weapon”. Exciting!
There was a weapon with a similar name in Respawn's previous game series, Titanfall, and that fired in burst shots – could we see the same thing happen here? It remains to be seen.
A dataminer (THat1MiningGuy) noted in leaked files that the rifle is classified as a tier 4 weapon, suggesting the weapon will only be found in carepackage drops like the Kraber or L-Star.
We'll keep you updated with anything else we hear about Season 3 as we get closer to the launch date.
