Apex Legends launched on Origin, PS4 and Xbox One to raucous applause: the game fuses battle royale and hero shooter elements to create something interesting and new in the multiplayer shooting space.
PC gamers were a little frustrated when they learned that the game was only available on EA's PC platform Origin, but as we learn more about the game, it's becoming clear that there is a level of integration with PC's leading platform – Steam.
For now, EA is only letting players access the game on Origin but any players in the game can invite their friends from Steam to join them in Apex Legends.
That basically means you can have a unified friends list across Apex Legends and Steam – not having different users broken up across different platforms.
Note that if you do get an invite from within Steam, you'll still need to download the Origin client to download and play Apex Legends.
When you download Apex Legends in Origin, users should be able to see and click on the option to open a browser page where you can link your Steam account.
Doing this will make it possible for Steam friends that are playing Apex Legends to appear in the squad menu in the lobby of the game – meaning you won't have to go searching for usernames and whatever else on different platforms.
"From the beginning, we built Apex Legends to be at its best when you are playing with friends," says a statement from Respawn. "We want it to be easy to know when your friends are online and squad up.
"When you and your friends link up accounts by clicking the button above, we'll be able to find your Steam friends and add them to your list of friends in Apex Legends".
