Captain Marvel star Ben Mendelsohn has spoken candidly about Spider-Man's future in the MCU, claiming that Tom Holland's superhero is one of Marvel's "absolute motherf***ing pornstars."In an interview with Metro, Mendelsohn, who reprised his role as Talos in a Far From Home post-credits scene, weighed in on the recent negotiations between Sony Pictures and Disney/Marvel, saying it would have been a "disaster" if Spider-Man had been slung out of the MCU."I think what happens in these things is, most of the time, cooler heads prevail," he explained, candidly opening up about the whole deal debacle. "Sometimes we end up in a situation which feels like it’s going to be the lead up to World War I.
"But s*** man. You can’t lose Spider-Man from the Marvel universe. He’s one of their absolute motherf***ing pornstars. Boy, I could name 30 [superheroes] that you could quite comfortably lose before you start thinking about losing Spider-Man.
"In fact, I cannot think of a single character who’s more important to Marvel than Spider-Man. You've got Hulk, you've got Thor… none of them are as important as Spider-Man. None of them," he concluded before reiterating the point that losing him "would have been a disaster."Fortunately, disaster was averted as Sony and Disney/Marvel ended up inking a new deal with renegotiated terms to keep Mendelsohn's favourite friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man in the MCU, with a third solo film, following Homecoming and Far From Home, already set for release on July 16, 2021.
The web-slinger will reportedly also return for one MCU movie; though it has not been confirmed which Phase 4 instalment Peter Parker's alter-ego will appear in, there are plenty of options as Marvel's forthcoming slate is jam-packed with new movies and Disney+ shows.
Check out which Phase 4 movie we think Holland's beloved Spidey will most likely show up in next.
