Love it or hate it – Crash Bandicoot’s first mobile outing on iOS and Android is already a massive success. According to new data from Sensor Tower, Crash Bandicoot: On the Run generated over 8 million installs on its official launch day.
King’s mobile adaptation of Crash Bandicoot might be getting mixed reviews, but the game’s already found a strong foothold in the marketplace. Craig Chapple, mobile insights strategist at Sensor Tower, shared some recent findings about the new auto-runner with TheGamer:
“Our data shows that the mobile game generated 8.1 million installs globally across the App Store and Google Play on its official launch day. However, since March 23, when it released early on the App Store, the title has picked up an estimated 11.4 million downloads. The United States was the No. 1 country for downloads on March 25, followed by Brazil at No. 2, Mexico at No. 3, and the UK at No. 4.”
Since its early launch on the App Store on March 23, Crash Bandicoot: On the Go has managed to pull in over 11 million downloads – an impressive feat for the aging marsupial.
To put its success into perspective, back in 2019 Call of Duty: Mobile broke all sorts of records when it was downloaded over 100 million times in its first week. If Crash keeps up its current pace of 8 million a day, it would end with around 56 million installs in a week – not quite Call of Duty numbers, but comparable to both Fortnite and PUBG Mobile, which saw 22.5 million (App Store only) and 28 million in their first week on the market, respectively.
Crash Bandicoot: On the Run is a simple auto-runner that sees you exploring familiar locales from the popular franchise – spinning, sliding, and swiping your finger along the way. All the usual mobile tropes are there, such as unlockable content, an expandable home base, and an excessive number of microtransactions.
You can download King’s latest game for free on iOS and Android – if you’re not one of the 11 million who have already done so.
