DC Comics is dipping a toe back into role-playing games with The Last God: Tales from the Book of Ages, a new 40-page sourcebook compatible with the 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons.
The supplement, which will be published under D&D’s Open-Gaming License, expands on the setting of Cain Annun, as seen in the publisher’s recently launched Black Label series, The Last God. The book, written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and drawn by Riccardo Federici, picks up 30 years after a group of adventurers defeated an undead horde, climbed an impossible mountain, and slew a god to save the world. When the same undead horde shows up again, it becomes clear that their victory may not have been as clear cut as their legend would tell.
Dungeons & Dragons basically has DLC now, and it’s excellent
Each issue so far has contained a wealth of in-universe legends, history, and even music — so it comes as no surprise that Johnson has enough details for an even closer look. According to DC’s announcement, The Last God: Tales from the Book of Ages describes “the rich history of the people, locations, schools of magic and creatures found throughout Cain Anuun.”

“For role-playing-game fans, this sourcebook also includes 5E compatible content to run your own quests with playable races, subclasses, magic items, monsters and more, courtesy of Nerd Poker podcast ‘dungeonmaster’ Dan Telfer. The sourcebook also includes new maps and illustrations from master cartographer Jared Blando.”
The Last God: Tales from the Book of Ages will hit comic shop shelves for $4.99 on April 29, 2020.
