Epic Games has announced that it will feature two games for free on its store: Galactic Civilizations 3, a 4X turn-based strategy game developed by Stardock for Microsoft Windows, and Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition, a 2D platformer and Metroidvania game developed by Long Hat House.
Galactic Civilizations 3, which was released May 14, 2015, can be downloaded for free on the Epic Games Store library until January 28, when Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition, which was released on February, 6, 2018 will become available for free until February 4.
Galactic Civilizations 3, the sequel to 2006’s Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords and the third installment in the Galactic Civilizations series, was the first game in the series to feature multiplayer and hex-based game tiles. The game received positive reviews from critics.
Set in 2242, ten years after the war against the Dread Lords, Galactic Civilizations 3 allows players to build their own interstellar civilization to battle for control over the galaxy. Players are also able to design their own ships to take on other fleets. The key is to gauge the types of weapons and defenses their opponents are utilizing and designs ships that can successfully conquer them.
As for Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition, players must take control Dandara, who is based an Afro-Brazilian warrior of Brazil’s colonial that fought to free the slaves. In the game, the protagonist exists in an alternate universe where the enslaved are facing extinction, therefore, she must fight for their survival.
