Epic Will Honour FIFA 23’s Incorrect $0.063 Pre-Purchase Price

EA and FIFA will launch their final game together later this year, and the pre-orders for it have already been open for a while. Suffice to say, as is the case with almost any annual sports sim, FIFA 23 is pretty pricey, especially if you want the Ultimate Edition. That's unless you were lucky enough to bag the game for just five Indian rupees, a price Epic and EA have revealed they will be honoring.

If you're not familiar with Indian currency and you're wondering just how big of an inadvertent discount some people got, 5 INR roughly equates to $0.063. That's right, a tad over six cents. As for exactly how much the lucky few who stumbled upon the erroneous deal are saving, FIFA 23's Ultimate Edition is currently priced at $99.99. And yes, as highlighted above, they will not be asked to pay the remaining $99.93.

An email that has presumably been sent to those lucky enough to have found the error and benefitted from it has been shared on Reddit. “We scored a pretty spectacular own-goal when we inadvertently offered FIFA 23 pre-purchase on the Epic Games Store at an incorrect price,” the email reads. “We wanted to let you know that we'll be honoring all pre-purchases made at that price.”

It's unclear which party made the mistake, and which one decided to honor the incredibly cheap sales. The email is signed by the FIFA team at EA, but the Epic logo can also be seen on the message. It seems like a mistake for which everyone involved was to blame, and would have been one that required both parties to agree upon when it comes to honoring the low, low price of $0.063. The number of people who managed to get the game for so little hasn't been revealed.

In the same email, EA has reminded players who got the game that cheap some of the new features they can look forward to. HyperMotion2, men's and women's World Cups, and cross-play for the very first time in FIFA history. It was also revealed this week that EA and Marvel will be teaming up to turn some of FIFA 23's FUT players into superheroes.
