Fan-Made Breath Of The Wild Cartoon Needs To Become A Real Series

A fan-made trailer for a hypothetical Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild animation has been crafted. Breath of the Wild remains a notable discussion point among fans. It is one of the highest-rated games of the last decade, and one of the most influential of the modern era. It is also the bestselling Zelda title in the U.S.

There have been a few Nintendo animated programs throughout the years. Some have fond memories of the late ’80s/early ’90s Mario and Zelda DIC cartoons, but they are certainly products of their time, and usually brought up for memes more than anything else today. In the 2000s, there was the Kirby: Right Back at Ya! anime and F-Zero: GP Legend. While Kirby: Right Back at Ya! might have been somewhat popular, F-Zero: GP Legend has been forgotten. Many fans have been hoping for Nintendo to take bigger chances with modern animation and films — a recent fan-made Breath of the Wild animation trailer shows the fantastic potential of such an endeavor.

A YouTuber named 샬리즈 (translated to Shalitz according to the channel) has uploaded a Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild fan-made animation trailer. The footage shows key scenes from the game’s storyline, such as getting to Death Mountain, and flying to Divine Beast Vah Medoh. Check it out below, and try not to be too depressed afterward knowing it’s not real.

The animation seems to be inspired by Studio Ghibli’s work. The visuals and character designs greatly evoke the classics Castle in the Sky, and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Credit must be given to the individuals listed in the fan-made trailer’s credits for crafting such an official-looking piece. A Studio Ghibli Legend of Zelda film or series would be highly anticipated. Breath of the Wild’s vast land of Hyrule would certainly benefit from Ghibli’s award-winning visuals.

In terms of upcoming Nintendo animation and movies, the only thing confirmed is the Super Mario Bros. film from Illumination. Hopefully, after that Nintendo will bring other franchises to life on the screen. It’s been said before, but games like Metroid, Star Fox, and of course, The Legend of Zelda, have plenty of potential outside their games. It remains to be seen if that potential is realized.
