Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin arrives next March in three different versions. There's the base physical version which is just the game and nothing else, and then there are two digital versions. Pre-ordering either of those will give you several goodies, including the "Braveheart" and "Rebellion" swords, the "Lustrous" shield, a PS4 theme, and 72-hour early access.
Getting the Digital Deluxe edition, however, provides you with a digital artbook, soundtrack, as well as the "DLC Season Pass." One would assume that the season pass DLC would work like every other season pass in other games: you can buy it now at a slight discount and get it as soon as it arrives, or you can pay for it separately later on.
That might not be the case with Final Fantasy Origin. Square Enix just tweeted the titles of the three missions coming as part of the season pass, including Trials of the Dragon King, Wanderer of the Rift, and Different Future. But then they followed this announcement with a curious sentence: "These missions won't be available separately."
This could mean several things. It might mean that the season pass is an all-or-nothing deal and you can only buy the three additional missions as a single package. Or it might mean that these missions can only be purchased as part of the Digital Deluxe edition of Final Fantasy Origin and won’t be available later on.
Several Final Fantasy fans have expressed their extreme displeasure at the latter interpretation in response to Square’s tweet.
"Screw us for buying the game physically, eh? This isn't a random re-skinned weapon,or anything like that," wrote one angry user. "It's CONTENT. CONTENT people will miss for not getting the DIGITAL DELUXE version of the game."
Hopefully, Square Enix will confirm how the Final Fantasy Origin's season pass will work and what will be available for purchase later. In the meantime, you can take a look at some of the new combat mechanics coming in Origin, including the Break Gauge and Soul Shield.
