Fortnite has become one of the biggest games in the world with over 200 million players spanning across multiple platforms.
Despite being a free-to-play game spread out across PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobiles, it is laden with microtransactions so players can buy cosmetics items with the in-game currency, V-Bucks.
So naturally it should come as no surprise that the CEO (Tim Sweeney) of Epic Games (creators of Fortnite), is a very, very wealthy person.
And not just a little bit rich. We're talking Scrooge McDuck diving into a vault of gold coins, kinda rich.

Tim Sweeney’s estimated net worth is $8billion (£6.5billion).
He placed at number 195 on Bloomberg billionaires index, which is published each year.
Sweeney is worth nearly $3billion more than Valve’s Gabs Newell, who placed number 368.
According to the publication, most of Sweeney’s fortune comes from his 44.7% stake in Epic Games.
The video game and software development company is worth a jaw-dropping $15billion.
While this was his first appearance on Bloomberg’s list, he has had a long and successful career in gaming.

Sweeney has been programming games since he was just 11.
He was obsessed with the fast-developing computing industry.
Sweeney founded Epic Games from his parents’ basement in 1991, when the 21-year-old mechanical engineering student released the company’s first game ZZT.
The game helped Sweeney establish a huge reputation in the industry.
Epic Games fast grew into a tangible business, releasing its first first-person shooter game, Unreal, in 1998.

He also launched the Unreal Engine, a set of software tools for developers which also generates royalties for Epic Games.
The Unreal engine is also responsible for many popular games and seires, including the likes of Gears of War, Bioshock to name just two.

In 2018 Fortnite made £1.9billion, which is more than any game in history.
In other words it generates an eye-watering $2.5million a day in revenue.
The total revenue for the game is now estimated at around £3billion.
