Tired of the bog standard Fortnite battle royale gameplay? Play a match of football instead and represent your favourite club.
Fortnite has already crossed over with the Marvel universe, the DC universe, and the Star Wars universe. Now, it’s kicking off what Epic Games calls one of its biggest collaborations yet: the football universe.
Specifically, it’s partnering with 23 of the biggest football clubs in the world and, from January 23, fans can represent their club of choice with one of 10 outfit variants.
The clubs that will be available are:
- AC Milan
- AS Roma
- Atlanta United FC
- Borussia Mönchengladbach
- Celtic FC
- Cerezo Osaka
- EC Bahia
- FC Schalke 04
- Inter Milan
- Los Angeles FC
- Manchester City FC
- Melbourne City FC
- Rangers FC
- Santos FC
- Seattle Sounders FC
- Sevilla FC
- Sporting CP
- Sydney FC
- VFL Wolfsburg
- West Ham United FC
- Western Sydney Wanderers
- Wolverhampton Wanderers FC
Players will have the opportunity to acquire their kit of choice early, though, by taking part in the Pelé Cup on January 20.
Yes, Brazilian superstar Pelé has partnered with Epic as well and has even lent his iconic celebration to the game in the form of the Air Punch emote, which will also become available on January 23.
Top scorers in the Pelé Cup can win the Kickoff Set and the emote before their release, as well as a customised signed shirt.
And if you find yourself enjoying playing footy in Fortnite, Epic has made a Football Tournament island in the Creative Hub.
‘Players will use their bodies, Pickaxes, power-ups, speed boosts and more to try to outscore their opponents and come out the winner in this 4v4 bracket style game mode,’ says Epic.
Each game features two rounds, with the two winning teams facing each other in the second round and the other two playing for third place.
Fortnite is available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
