Leaked Fortnite loading screens have teased the addition of Loki to the battle royale’s ever-expanding roster.
The measure of a person’s fame has been determined in different ways throughout time. Once upon a time an appearance on TV was enough. During the social media era, that sought-after blue checkmark has been what separates the famous and their fans. Nowadays, you can’t boast that you have truly made it until someone is able to pose as you in Fortnite.
Everyone from Batman to Travis Scott has had their likeness added to Fortnite. However, the franchise with the biggest influence on the game’s roster continues to be Marvel. Marvel had an entire season dedicated to it last year, and the Marvel crossovers are rumored to be in the works for years to come. Next on the agenda will be the addition of Loki judging by a leaked loading screen.
Fortnite leaker Hypex discovered and shared the image following this week’s v16.50 update. The silhouette in the background is very clearly the outline of the MCU’s version of Loki wearing his horned helmet. That likely means Loki will be added to the game around the time his spinoff series of the same name debuts on Disney Plus. Loki’s season premiere will air on Disney Plus on June 9, 2021.
Coincidentally, Fortnite’s current season is scheduled to come to an end on June 7, 2021, and season seven will begin the following day. That could mean Loki will play a big part in Fortnite’s upcoming season, or will at least be revealed at the start of it in conjunction with the MCU TV show. Hypex has also shared another image that seems to show the silhouette of MCU Thor. A non-MCU version of Thor led the charge during the aforementioned Marvel season.
Disney previously announced Loki will air on Wednesdays instead of Fridays. Friday was previously the day of choice for its TV shows following The Mandalorian, WandaVision, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. While there’s a slim possibility it moved Loki to Wednesdays to coincide with Fortnite’s calendar, it seems far more likely that Fortnite would have been the one to rearrange its diary if something like that needed to be done. Loki’s move is likely more to do with Disney making sure it doesn’t clash with the release of Black Widow on July 9, 2021.
