Epic Games is launching what could be one of its most ambitious Fortnite live events ever.

But they have also warned that some gamers risk missing out on what is being called Operation Sky Fire.

As with past events, Fortnite fans will be able to jump into the game early to make sure they can reserve a spot.

Epic Games never designs these events to have a limit on how many can join, but it’s always hard to say just how many players will be able to log on at the same time.

And that’s why the Fortnite support team warns everyone interested in partaking to join thirty minutes before everything kicks off.

And for today’s Fortnite event, that means joining the special servers at 8:30pm BST. The event itself will kick off at 9pm BST, or 4pm EDT, if you live in the United States.

So why are gamers being warned that they could miss out on this week’s Operation Sky Fire live event?

Epic Games has confirmed that they will not be repeating today’s Fortnite live event at any time in the future.

This means that if you want to enjoy it with your friends, you must reserve your place early and make sure you don’t lose connection.

There will be no other times to play it, meaning that Fortnite gamers in the UK must be free at 9pm BST.

A message from Epic Games explains: “Operation: Sky Fire — Fortnite’s Chapter 2 Season 7 ending event — takes place at 4 PM ET on September 12. Join a strike team and sneak aboard the Mothership to deliver IO’s final message to the invading Aliens.

Fortnite: Epic Games tease Invasion storyline in trailer

“The Operation: Sky Fire event playlist will be available 30 minutes prior to start for players to jump in and reserve their spot in the mission.

“Be sure to log in early and standby for go time. You can join the event with a full lobby of 16 friends, so bring the whole squad and more to help you tackle Slone’s secret mission.

“For content creators and players looking to relive the moments of Operation: Sky Fire – note that replays for the event will not be available. Please take appropriate steps to record and archive your experience to share with everyone.”

Operation Sky Fire will be the last big event before Epic Games ends Fortnite Season 7 and launches Season 8.

No set release date has been shared for when the changeover will happen but it seems likely that we learn more about it tomorrow.

And based on previous seasons, we would expect Fortnite Season 8 to begin around September 13, unless Epic Games decides on a very quick turnaround after the event.

“Complete any remaining Epic Quests and exchange your Battle Stars for the rewards you desire before Operation: Sky Fire begins. Any remaining Alien Artifacts should similarly be collected and exchanged for your favorite Kymera styles and options.

“Any unclaimed Battle Stars or Alien Artifacts at the end of Chapter 2 Season 7 will be automatically redeemed for rewards and styles starting with the earliest available unlocks, so if you want to snag a particular option, exchange them now.”
