Fortnite update 10.40.1 released: here are the surprise patch notes

A new Fortnite update has been released today (January 16th) for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Android.

There's no word on when the update will arrive for iOS or Nintendo Switch players, but Epic Games Fortnite support account did confirm it was working on the update.

Epic Games brand new Fortnite download comes a couple of days after Epic Games released update v11.40 on Wednesday.

A Tweet sent this afternoon from the Fortnite Status twitter account reads:

"Players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Android can now download the v11.40.1 maintenance patch.

"We'll provide an update once this patch is available on Nintendo Switch and iOS."

It's not clear when the update will be released for the remaining platforms but we imagine it will arrive in a couple of days time. That said it can take a little longer for iOS on occasion.

It's equally unclear from the Fortnite message sent, official Trello board or even the ever-reliable data miners for the game exactly what the update has fixed.

One dataminer, @SkinTrackerCom, has noticed one change, but its very minor.

"So far it only somewhat changed the Evidence Bag, no idea what changed though." the user wrote.

Another user, FNLeaksAndInfo, suggested that the issue of players shooting through ramps may also have been fixed. An issue that was spotted following this week's earlier update.

We'll be sure to add more details as they become available.
