GTA 5 voice actors tease return of Michael and Franklin in GTA Online

With a new heist coming to GTA Online, there’s also the chance we might see the return of some familiar faces.

With Grand Theft Auto Online set to get new heist content and a whole new area, fans have been theorising what exactly it could be.

Speculation has ranged from revisiting an area from a previous game, such as Vice City, to it being a wholly new locale altogether.

One theory is that it’ll actually be somewhere in Los Santos, the setting of Grand Theft Auto 5. If true, this could mean we’ll be seeing the return of Franklin Clinton and Michael De Santa, two of that game’s playable protagonists.

This possibility comes from an Instagram video of the two’s voice actors, Shawn Foteno and Ned Luke, which was first recorded in April but recently shared by a fan on Reddit.

While they don’t explicitly state that they have recorded lines for GTA Online, Luke does say that it would be fun for them to be involved with one of the game’s heists.

Foteno also adds ‘I heard they had something coming up with us to do that, so, wait and see,’ he said – implying that Rockstar, at least at the time, might have had plans to bring the two characters back into the game.

This shouldn’t be considered as confirmation that they will return though. If they had recorded new lines for the game, they would most likely be under a non-disclosure agreement and wouldn’t be allowed to say anything.

It’s also possible that Rockstar’s plans have changed since then but bringing Franklin and Michael back isn’t too far-fetched.

The two voice actors are clearly more than happy to reprise their roles and GTA 5’s third protagonist, Trevor, has already made an appearance in GTA Online, where players can work for him and complete jobs.

It’s going to be a while before we see what exactly Rockstar has planned, though the developer has stated that the update with the new location will release before the end of the year.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2021.
