It's time to catch 'em all, once again. Millions of people are out exploring the new region of Paldea in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. With lots of new Pokemon to catch, gyms to beat, and an open world bursting with secrets, this latest iteration in the franchise is sure to keep you busy for hours.
We've seen all of Paldea, we've battled the trainers, collected the new Pokemon, and traveled each hill and valley. You don't have to polish off every side quest to be the very best here if you'd rather go straight for the championship. We can tell you how long it takes to become a champion, plus how long you'll be playing if you're a completionist.
How Long Does It Take To Beat Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
If you want to skip school, bypass the extra quests and zoom straight towards the Pokemon championship, it will take you roughly 26 hours. This skips over a lot of extra content and focuses solely on fighting gym leaders and taking on the final challenges.
It's worth noting because Paldea is an open-world map, this time could be trimmed down by traveling only via Moraidon and Koraidon and by cutting out areas of the map. The map is fully revealed from the start, so you can easily plan fast routes to each gym.
How Long Does It Take To Beat The Main Story And Side Quests?
For those who want to help out side characters and see a bit more of what Paldea has to offer, completing the main story and side quests will clock in around 36 hours. Two characters you will meet at the start of the game have quite lengthy side quest storylines, so these will become as important as beating the gym leaders.
This also takes into account tackling Tera raids with other players and wandering off the beaten path to grab extra items. Some side quests require traveling to new areas of the map and avoiding environmental dangers, so you'll see a good chunk of this new region.
How Long Does It Take To 100 Percent?
You might be a completionist and want to see absolutely everything. If you want to meet the 100 percent milestone it will take around 51 hours. This means beating each gym leader, completing all side quests, collecting every Pokemon in Paldea, and finding all important items, all while seeing every part of the landscape.
51 hours may seem a lot, but that's half the time it takes to hit 100 percent the last mainline Pokemon game, Sword & Shield.
