Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Announces Playable Young Impa

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity players will get to see a new side of one of the characters in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, as a young version of Impa will be a playable fighter in the game.

In Breath of the Wild, Impa is a very old woman who Link must seek out at the start of the game. Impa is one of the few people around who remembers Link before he was forced into a healing slumber, which happened a century before. Link has lost most of his memories, so Impa offers him guidance throughout the game.

The original Hyrule Warriors gave players the chance to control Impa in battle, and the latest game in the series will do the same. The latest trailer revealed that the four Champions will be playable, and a new post on the official Nintendo of America Twitter page has confirmed that a young version of Impa will also be playable, based on footage shown during the Tokyo Game Show.

Age of Calamity is a prequel to Breath of the Wild, so many fans assumed that Impa would have a prominent role in the game. New footage of Age of Calamity shown at the Tokyo Game Show has given a glimpse of how Impa works. In battle, Impa fights like a ninja, with a kunai that can strike opponents from afar, elemental seals that deal damage to groups of enemies, and a special move that allows her to vanish and strike monsters with a lightning-fast series of attacks.

It’s expected that Impa will play an important role in the story of Age of Calamity, as she is one of the people who is active throughout the entire Breath of the Wild saga. It’s possible that she was vitally important in ensuring that Link made it to the Shrine of Resurrection on time and that Zelda entrusts many secrets to her before she has to take on Calamity Ganon.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will be released for Nintendo Switch on November 20, 2020.
