Animal Crossing, The Last of Us Part 2, Doom Eternal, Final Fantasy 7 Remake… 2020 was stacked with incredible titles. Whether you were looking for a relaxing way to grind through this mess of a year or needed a brutal, fast-paced cathartic release, 2020 had a game with your name on it.
Some titles released this year, however, were downright bad. Metacritic has officially released its annual report of the lowest rated games of the year – here are the unfortunate entries on the list:
- Tiny Racer (Switch)
- XIII Remake (Xbox One)
- Dawn of Fear (PS4)
- Fast & Furious Crossroads (PC)
- Arc of Alchemist (Switch)
- Remothered: Broken Porcelain (PC)
- Tamarin (PS4)
- Street Power Soccer (PS4)
- Gleamlight (Switch)
- The Elder Scrolls: Blades (Switch)
“Games are ranked by Metascore (as of December 15, 2020) prior to rounding, and any titles with fewer than 7 reviews from professional critics are excluded,” reads the announcement. “If a single title would have landed on the list multiple times due to low scores on more than one platform, we only included the lowest-scoring version.”
It’s possible you haven’t heard of most of these games, as they’re primarily indies that didn’t have a huge marketing push. The Elder Scrolls: Blades and Fast & Furious Crossroads might be the two outliers, as titles based on huge IPs that failed to strike a chord with fans.
Blades is a solid game on iOS and Android. It’s definitely not the game Elder Scrolls fans were looking for, but it’s a serviceable mobile game, nonetheless. On Switch, however, players didn’t appreciate the outdated graphics, lack of motion controls, and the excessive amount of microtransactions.
Fast & Furious Crossroads, on the other hand, simply lacked polish and was an absolute nightmare for most people to control. Still, if you know you’re getting into a game full of dumb setpieces and loads of explosions, there’s still a bit of fun to be had.
