Netflix’s Stranger Things is getting its first mobile game set to arrive in 2020.
Incorporating the same type of technology as the likes of Pokemon Go, players will be able to journey through The Upside Down as they go about their daily travels, as well as work alongside others to fight against monsters.
‘We are huge fans of ‘Stranger Things and thrilled to work together with Netflix to bring our shared vision of Stranger Things into life in a mobile game format,’ Next Games CEO Teemu Huuhtanen announced in a statement.
‘Our core focus will be to deliver on Stranger Things’ rich and intense themes like friendship and supernatural adventure, and translate these into snack-sized entertainment on your mobile device.
‘Combined with Netflix’s second-to none ability to reach audiences across the globe, we will deploy all of our accumulated creative and technological expertise to create a game for the fans of the series all around the world.’
Christopher Lee was part of a number of panelists who took part in an event held within the E3 Coliseum to talk about Netflix’s involvement in games.
‘We are launching a new Stranger Things game on mobile platforms coming in 2020,’ he said.
It was also revealed that the game is set to dip back into the retro with a ‘Saturday morning cartoon’ art style, with the first look being shared by the NX Twitter account.
Although there’s a while to wait before the game comes into our lives, less than one month stands before Stranger Things season three.
Netflix unveiled the first scene from the upcoming series last month, showing Mrs Wheeler eyeing up lifeguard Billy Hargrove and we are ready.
Stranger Things season 3 arrives Friday 4 July on Netflix.
