Nier Replicant: Where To Find Watermelon

Materials are easy to come by in Nier Replicant, but rarely the ones players will want or need for the game’s trickiest side quests. While a large number of materials can be found out in the wild – dropped by Shades or animals – others are often locked away to a single location. Vegetables in particular are hard to come by without knowing which stores to shop at or how to take advantage of Nier’s robust farming system.

A key part of quickly completing side quests in Nier Replicant is also knowing what to sell and what to keep just in case. Most fruits & vegetables are purely meant to be sold by the player as a means of making quick cash passively, but there are a few pricey crops that are worth holding onto just in case. Nier Replicant features two side quests where players need to hand over Watermelons

Watermelons are not abundant in Nier Replicant and can be found in one single area if you don’t feel like farming. While Nier Replicant’s Watermelons are pricey, they’re needed for missable side quests in Part 1, so it helps to know where to find them. Fortunately, Watermelons aren’t too tricky to track down.

Where In The World Are Watermelons?

Watermelons can only be found in Facade in Nier Replicant. Facade’s grocer sells Watermelons for 800 gold per melon, ending up quite pricey in the grand scheme of things. Considering money is hard to come by if you aren’t doing side quests, players might need to take some time to grind for gold.

In the meantime, it’s also worth picking up some Watermelon Seeds at the item shop in Facade for 80 gold per packet. The Watermelon Seeds can be planted in Nier’s Village where they’ll grow in real time. For a greater crop, make sure to use Bounty Fertilizer. To harvest the Watermelons quickly, use the Speed Fertilizer.

Yonah’s Gift

After completing the side quest Yonah’s Home Cooking, players can unlock Yonah’s Gift. Yonah wants to make another meal, this time requiring different ingredients. In total, Yonah requires 1 Melon, 1 Watermelon, and 1 Pumpkin. All three ingredients can be purchased at the grocer in Facade for the following prices:

  • Melon: 1200 Gold
  • Watermelon: 800 Gold
  • Pumpkin: 500 Gold

Considering how expensive Melons are, it’s worth buying seeds at the item store instead and waiting for them to grow in real time. Melon Seeds can be purchased for 120 Gold and will net quite a handsome payout if you use some Bounty Fertilizer before planting the packet. Once all three ingredients have been obtained, hand them over to Yonah.

Item Unknown

Item Unknown is a Facade quest that plays into the strange rules which govern the city. A Masked Person asks Nier to purchase them some food, but Facade’s strict rules demand that the request be done in a roundabout way. Instead of asking directly for what they need, Nier is tasked with finding 10 round, striped food objects.

Naturally, the masked person is asking for Watermelons. Head over to the Facade Grocer and get ready to drop 8000 Gold on 10 Watermelons. If you don’t want to spend so much money, grab some Watermelon packets and run them back to Nier’s Village. Use the Bounty Fertilizer and reap your reward. It’s also worth farming the Watermelons instead of buying them since the quest reward is only 3000 Gold – less than half of what you’d need to spend if you bought the Watermelons upfront.
