The Complete Edition of Nioh 2, an action RPG developed by Team Ninja, a Tokyo-based developer, was launched earlier today on Steam and PS5. Listed at $59.99, the set includes all of the content from Nioh 2 as well as all 3 DLC expansions, including The Tengu’s Disciple, Darkness in the Capital, and The First Samurai.
Both a prequel and sequel to 2017’s Nioh, the game was released for PS4 on March 13, 2020. Set in the late 1500s, the beginning of Nioh 2 is a prequel to Nioh, while the end takes place after the Siege of Osaka, the first game’s last storyline.
According to the publisher, Nioh 2 allows players to “Experience the thrill of taking on hordes of fearsome yokai in a battle to the death in this brutal masocore action RPG. Create your own original protagonist and embark on an adventure that will take you through devastated locales across Japan during the Sengoku period.”
Nioh 2, which received positive reviews from critics and was nominated for Best Action at The Game Awards 2020, sold 91,892 copies during its first week of release in Japan, making it the bestselling retail game of the week in the country. It was also the bestselling game during its first week of release in the UK. By December 2020, the game had shipped over 1.4 million copies worldwide.
As a limited-time bonus, players who purchase Nioh 2 Complete Edition on Steam, within the first three weeks from launch, will receive the Sohaya Deserter Garb and Ornate Gold Armour, which can be used on their adventure. The items are available as free downloads from February 5 to February 26. Players must access the Shrine menu and select the Boons tab to obtain the bonus.
In its review of the game, TheGamer wrote, “If you enjoy a brutal challenge and managing complicated skill trees, then you need to jump on this right away. When it comes to difficult games, Nioh 2 is an incredibly deep and engaging experience that makes Dark Souls look like Kirby’s Dreamland.”
