Nippon Ichi Software (NIS), known for their tactical RPG games like Phantom Brave, Makai Kingdom: Chronicles of the Sacred Tome, and Soul Nomad & the World Eaters, has just released the sixth official trailer for Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny. The new game was announced on September 17, 2020, and is coming to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch on January 28 in Japan and this summer in North America and Europe.
The new character trailer introduces the protagonist Zed, a zombie who possesses the power of Super Reincarnation and must take on the God of Destruction with the help his sister Bieko, his demonic dog Cerberus, and the allies gathered on his journey to defeat the threat.
Other characters shown are Melodia, a princess who dreams of a storybook romance, Piyori Nijino, the leader of the Ultra Croma Power Squad Prism Rangers , Overlord Ivar, the self-proclaimed strongest Demon Lord in the universe, and Majolene, the headmaster of the Magimage School of Magic.
“Zed is a boastful zombie who wallows on the lowest rung on the Netherworld ladder alongside his sister Bieko. When a God of Destruction threatens their way of (un)life, Zed must harness his unique ability of Super Reincarnation to stand against the approaching menace,” NIS says in its description of the game.
The Disgaea series debuted in Japan on January 30, 2003, with Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, which was later re-released as Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness and Disgaea DS. The series has been developed into both a manga and anime series. Known for its complex gameplay and high maximum stats, the Disgaea series has shipped 4.5 million copies as of 2020.
The new game will include new customizable settings like Auto-Battle and Auto-Repeat, as well standard Disgaea features like After Story, Carnage Dimension and Rasetsu Dimension. A demo version of the game is currently available in Japan. “Enjoy the chaotic, demon-like combat, with mechanics like team attacks, which let you gang up on enemies, and the ability to lift and throw allies and enemies all across the battlefield! Use the Character Creation systems to personalize your favorite characters,” NIS says in its introduction.
