You can now pre-order your PS5 pre-order and while it’s only meant for the US there is a workaround for the rest of the world.
We’re now probably less than three months from the PlayStation 5 being released and we still don’t know when exactly it’ll be out or how much it’ll cost, but that doesn’t mean Sony doesn’t want you to pre-order it anyway.
Although it only applies to fans in the US, Sony now allows you to register (just click here) for the chance to pre-order at a later date.
Even then the chance to pre-order is invite-only, so there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to as it’s all based on your ‘previous interests and PlayStation activities’.
What this seems to mean is that Sony will look at your PSN account and if you’re a loyal customer you’re in with a chance but if you’ve only just signed up you’re not.
Reservations are on a first come, first served basis and signing up does not guarantee the chance to pre-order even if you do get invited.
As you’d expect, invites are only good for a limited time and you can only pre-order one console per PSN ID. More specifically you’ll get the chance to order the following:
- 1 PlayStation 5 console or 1 PlayStation 5 Digital Edition
- 2 DualSense wireless controllers
- 2 DualSense charging stations
- 2 Pulse 3D wireless headsets
- 2 Media remotes
- 2 HD cameras
How do I pre-order a PS5 console?
There’s no indication of when the rest of the world will be able to pre-order but if you can somehow organise a US delivery address that is allowed. It’s not being from another country that stops you from being able to pre-order but trying to ship to one.
It goes without saying that you should make sure whatever address you do ship to in the US is 100% trustworthy – so if that guy you met once in Fortnite offers to do you a favour maybe don’t take them up on it.
All of this convoluted procedure is presumably because stock of the PlayStation 5 will be very limited this year, although by how much Sony has – you guessed it – not said yet.
