Best Buy has confirmed that it will be selling PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles later today.
The event is happening in-store, meaning you have to check which locations will be offering next-gen consoles.
A system has been put in place, and anyone can click the link and find a local location they can visit.
One thing to note here is that the event is happening very early in the morning and will use a ticketing system, meaning you should find out pretty quickly if you have a chance at buying a PS5 on September 23.
A message on the Best Buy website explains the system, revealing: “Blue Shirts at participating stores will begin handing out tickets at 7:30 a.m. local time that morning.
“They will ask you which console you wish to buy, and hand out one ticket per purchasing customer in line.
“If you receive a ticket, you will be guaranteed the opportunity to purchase the console for which you have received a ticket. While in the store, you will also be able to buy games or gaming accessories in addition to your console.”
This will be happening only at certain Best Buy locations on September 23 and will not be available online.
Meanwhile, in the UK, there could be a fresh chance to buy a console before the end of the week.
GAME has been linked to a new PS5 stock update which has been predicted to arrive around September 23.
PS5: Sony unveil pricing for PlayStation 5 console
So it will be worth UK gamers to check the GAME digital store between 8am and 12pm to see if they can grab a new console.
If the new PS5 stock doesn’t materialise, GAME is expected to provide a restock before the end of the month.
Knowing when a PS5 restock is happening can be vital, but it’s also worth knowing how each retailer handles its shipments.
And here are a few examples of how best to try and buy a PlayStation 5 console from leading UK retailers:
ARGOS: The Argos website is notorious for crashing and being unable to complete purchases when site traffic is high. Stock trackers suggest using the mobile Argos app and keeping an eye on local store listings.
GAME: GAME is a UK retailer that offers the most regular stock updates for PS5 consoles. However, console hunters have been warned to use Guest Checkout, as this option is less likely to crash when completing a purchase. The next PS5 stock is expected around September 23.
AMAZON UK: Amazon UK runs better under strain but still comes with a few kinks worth mentioning. Having an account set up with your card details is a good start, and gamers should also try adding a console to their wishlist before checking out. The last stock drop happened on September 22.
Sony has confirmed that they have sold millions of PS5 consoles even with the current stock shortage affecting sales.
