PUBG Mobile is already one of the biggest titles on mobile, but its next update on September 8 is hoping to take the popular game to new heights. The massive patch will be around 2.0GB in size and will bring new character models, an improved UI, enhanced visuals, and a “much-anticipated surprise.”
The first thing you’ll notice when booting up the game on September 8 is the overhauled lobby. Tencent claims it will be more interactive than ever before, allowing you to quickly navigate menus and jump into a game.
Once you’ve joined a match, the action is bound to look better than ever thanks to new lighting, textures, and particle effects. Of course, you’ll probably need a powerful phone in order to run everything at its max, but it’s great to see the options available for high-end users.
As for the “much-anticipated surprise?” Well, it doesn’t seem to be much of a surprise. Erangel 2.0 – a complete rework of the popular map – has been available in beta form for quite some time, and there’s no doubt it will be released on September 8.
To drum up excitement for its massive release, PUBG Mobile Global Championship Season Zero will be held in the month following the arrival of Update 1.0. It includes a $2 million prize pool, making it the largest tournament in PUBG Mobile history. We don’t have an official date for the new season, but it’s anticipated to start in late November. That should give contestants plenty of time to learn the ins and outs of the latest update and perfect their battle royale strategies.
PUBG Mobile continues to thrive in a crowded mobile marketplace, and has accrued over 600 million downloads since landing on iOS and Android. It averages over 50 million daily users, meaning you don’t have to wait in a queue very long before parachuting into the action.
PUBG Mobile is available for free on iOS and Android. Update 1.0 is releasing on September 8, and the Season Zero tournament will follow shortly after in November.
