Arkane Studios has revealed gameplay footage for Redfall during the Xbox and Bethesda showcase.
As expected, Redfall gameplay was finally shown off at the Xbox and Bethesda showcase, actually opening the showcase.
The gameplay trailer showed a character walking into an abandoned church and following a trail of blood to fight vampires in a basement. Although the footage starts with just one character, another player jumped in towards the end to help out, and the rest of the trailer flips between four different players to show how co-op works.
We also get a bit of a story summary within this trailer. We get to see how the vampires have taken over the town of Redfall, bringing back the tide to keep the citizens of the town trapped. There was also a breakdown of what each character in the crew is able to do, with one being able to use a little robot helper, another able to turn invisible, and one that has telekinetic powers, such as being able to create a lift out of nowhere.
Redfall, along with Starfield was supposed to launch in the Summer this year, However, both games were delayed to the first half of 2023. "We've made the decision to delay the launches of Redfall and Starfield to the first half of 2023," said a statement by Bethesda. "The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them."
Around this time last year, we learned that Redfall has been in development since 2017. The LinkedIn page of a senior 3D artist revealed that the game has been in development since the release of Prey: Mooncrash in 2017 – that's five years now. It was also revealed that several developers from Id Software were assisting Arcane with the development.
