The US PlayStation Store is selling Spider-Man Remastered on its own, but there’re some strange details surrounding it.
When it was confirmed that the PlayStation 5 remaster of Spider-Man would only be available as part of the Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition, and wouldn’t be a free upgrade to anyone who owned the original game, fans were less than happy with the news.
However, earlier today, Twisted Voxel noticed that the remaster is now available to purchase on its own via the PlayStation Store.
On the surface this is certainly good news but the whole thing feels rather odd. For starters, you would think there would be some official announcement from either Sony or Insomniac beforehand.
Secondly, it’s only available on the American PlayStation Store, where it’s priced at $39.99, which is much cheaper than the original bundle. The UK one only mentions the original PlayStation 4 game.
And thirdly, according to Twisted Voxel, you can’t even purchase it if you already own the original game and the DLC.
When Twisted Voxel attempted to download it from their PlayStation 5’s library, they were just directed to the PlayStation 4 version.
Neither Sony nor Insomniac have commented on this so, right now, there are two possible scenarios to explain what’s going on.
The first is that the listing has gone up too early and simply isn’t working properly. The second is that the whole thing’s the result of some glitch or error and there are still no plans on releasing the remaster as a separate purchase.
Spider-Man Remastered is only available on PlayStation 5.
