Super Smash Bros. Ultimate patch notes suggest VR mode is on the way

The next update of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will deliver a virtual reality mode, presumably the same kind of mode supported by the Nintendo Labo VR Kit in Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. That’s according to patch notes datamined from an upcoming update.

The notes were surfaced by the Twitter bot SSBUBot, which has a decent history of datamining the patches for the game and posted their details before the title updates have gone live. The reference to VR mode says only that it is available (in about five hours from now) and that it may be played using Nintendo Labo’s Toy-Con VR Goggles.

The Labo VR kit launched in April. Super Mario Odyssey has a “bite-sized experience” for the VR goggles, with Breath of the Wild more fully supported. It’s not known if Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be the former, the latter or somewhere in between. When the other two games were patched to support Labo VR back in April, some players reported that it had sped up their loading times.

The patch notes also indicate that players will be able to send their amiibo Figure Players on training journeys to fight in Battle Arenas against other Figure Players.
