Hey survivalists, we hope you're ready to fight for the scraps of what's left on a dying earth and sharpen your knives, because something exciting is coming.
No, no – we're not talking about Brexit.
It's the announcement that Sony will be showing off more news on The Last Of Us II later this month.
Thanks to invites being sent out to media that revealed A Last of Us 2 media event is taking place on Tuesday, September 24, we know we're going to hear more about the game over the coming weeks.
Will this event include information about how gameplay works, more story details, even a release date? We're going to have to wait and see.
What is The Last of Us: Part 2?
The Last of Us Part 2 is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
It is the sequel to 2013's critically acclaimed The Last of Us and follows on five years after the first game ended.
Though little is known about the games central plot, the Naughty Dog website does say this:
"In The Last of Us Part II, Ellie is now 19 and has found a semblance of peace and normality living in Jackson. She’s had a chance to be a teenager and forge lasting relationships.
"When that peace is disrupted by a violent act, Ellie is thrust into a brutal journey of retribution, fueled by a need to bring those that have wronged her to justice, pushing her to her very limits."
Industry insider Daniel Ahmad – known more fondly by his Twitter handle ZhugEX – has noted that we can expect more than just The Last of Us 2 at the event, though
The often clued-in insider notes that Sony wants to take it up a notch in September and, as such, we could see more information announced at the event… as well as, potentially, some PlayStation 5 news.
Cautiously, Ahmad revealed over on ResetEra that The Last of Us 2 "isn't the only Sony event [taking place] that week."

Whether this is PS5 or not remains to be seen, but either way, it's an exciting time to be a PlayStation fan – the best result would be us getting some more concrete PS5 info, but at the very worst we're going to get a new Last of Us 2 trailer.
Everyone's a winner!
