The Last Of Us Actor Says "I Don’t Need To Be Muscly" After Casting Criticism

There are very few things people can actually complain about with regard to HBO's The Last of Us. The casting for the lead and supporting characters has been great, the depiction of the infected has been spot on, and there are some scenes that are literally the same when compared side-by-side. Of course, as with any adaptation, there will be differences from the source material, but the showrunners have done a fantastic job with this original material as well.

However, there will always be people like Ben Shapiro who didn't understand the source material, and complained about the lack of zombies in episode three. Anyone who has played the games will know that The Last of Us games tell human stories, with only the setting being that of a zombie apocalypse. However, Shapiro isn't the only one who has dumb takes about the show.

Episode four introduced us to Kathleen, a rebel leader who orchestrated a coup against Fedra, and is essentially in charge of Kansas City. The character is played by Melanie Lynskey, who you may remember from shows like Togetherness, Yellowjackets, and Two and a Half Men. Despite Lynskey's excellent performance, former America’s Next Top Model contestant, Adrianne Curry had an issue with her casting – specifically, her body.

“Her body says life of luxury… not post apocalyptic warlord. where is linda hamilton when you need her," she Tweeted, along with a completely unrelated image of Lynskey from a photoshoot for a magazine.

"Firstly- this is a photo from my cover shoot for InStyle magazine, not a still from HBO’s The Last Of Us. And I’m playing a person who meticulously planned & executed an overthrow of FEDRA. I am supposed to be SMART, ma’am. I don’t need to be muscly. That’s what henchmen are for," Tweeted Lynskey along with a screenshot of Curry's Tweet, as her Twitter handle appears to be deleted. Not before she said this, though.

The replies were filled with supportive messages, including some from Jeffrey Pierce who plays her right-hand man in the show and voices Tommy in both the games.

We're all fans of Linda Hamilton, but saying that any woman in charge during an apocalypse must look and act like her is just plain stupid.
