A new demo of The Last Of Us Part II has been shown to retailers but there’s still no sign of a confirmed release date.
Not only did Sony not attend E3 this year but they also didn’t have any real presence at Gamescom last week, which means we’ve gone almost a year now without learning anything new about many of their biggest titles.
We haven’t seen The Last Of Us Part II since last June but apparently GameStop managers were treated to a new look this month, with a demo based around using stealth gameplay.
You may remember the GameStop Managers Show from last year, when they were treated to an advanced look at Red Dead Redemption II… and ended up describing it as ‘boring’.
Unfortunately, their descriptive powers weren’t much more advanced this time and no actual footage has leaked out, but according to a series of tweets the, ‘gameplay was about stealth and how you can use clickers to your advantage’.
Apparently, the demo took place in a ‘dark environment’ lit only by fire and flashlights. ‘Will look great in HDR for sure’, said the insider.
Voice actor Troy Baker was there to introduce the demo but it doesn’t seem like he really said very much and the demo was vey short anyway.
Perhaps most importantly, there was no sign of when the game would be released. Previous rumours had suggested February next year but there’s been no confirmation of that and in any case the game’s been delayed before.
Next spring is already extremely busy for new games and with the PlayStation 5 expected to launch next Christmas it’s becoming increasingly hard to guess when exactly Sony might be planning to release the game.
The new demo wasn’t the only bit of news to come from the Managers Show though, with Disney announcing remasters of the classic 90s video game tie-ins to The Lion King and Aladdin.
