Square Enix recently announced that it will make at least three separate Nier announcements at Tokyo Game Show on September 24 – one for Nier Replicant, one for Nier: Automata, and one for Nier Reincarnation.
The news comes from the official Nier page on Twitter, where details of what to expect were recently posted online. The tweet also includes a link to the official Nier Tokyo Game Show livestream, which is due to air two weeks from today at 6am PT/11am ET/2pm BST.

“Nier Tokyo Game Show 2020 special information is available, and there is new information,” reads the official tweet when roughly translated from Japanese. “We will send you the latest information on Series 3 titles.” The tweet also notes that the stream is pre-recorded.
Dubbed as the “We Have A Decent Amount Of New Info” special, the stream will provide updates for all three games in the Nier RPG series. It’s not too much of a stretch to surmise that the Nier: Automata announcement could have to do with a certain pair of consoles launching in mid-November…
Admittedly, this announcement doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Given that Nier Replicant was recently rated in Taiwan, it seemed reasonable to assume that the iconic RPG series would be making an appearance at Tokyo Game Show this year – which will be staged digitally via a global livestream.
Although it seems likely that the Nier: Automata announcement could focus on next-gen upgrades for PS5 and Xbox Series X, the Nier Replicant and Nier Reincarnation news is slightly more difficult to predict. The former is a remaster of the original Nier game, whereas the latter is a mysterious mobile game set in the same universe.
If we’re lucky, we might get release dates for one or both of these upcoming titles. Nier Replicant is due to launch for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, whereas Nier Reincarnation will be a mobile game playable on both Android and iOS.
