Warhammer Legends Gives Your Old Figures One Last Update

Got some old Warhammer 40K models you wish you could still play with? Now you can, thanks to the new Warhammer Legends website.

The sad truth in Warhammer is that some models get left behind as the game evolves. Sometimes characters die, factions get eliminated, or they just don’t make it into new editions with updated rules. This would normally mean the end of those miniatures as their stats lose compatibility with the current rules, but Games Workshop has come up with a great solution to let players keep using their old minis.

It’s called the Warhammer Legends website, and what it does is basically update old minis with new rules. “The Warhammer 40,000 Legends page contains datasheets and additional wargear options, definitive profiles that will live on their own dedicated page, enabling you to unleash your treasured classics in open, narrative, and matched play games, with full points provided to help you balance your games.”

The site is broken down between classic Warhammer and Warhammer 40K, and then each faction is listed along with the date of their last update. Clicking on the individual faction will bring up a PDF file that contains the errata’d rules and updated stats and points values.

We should note that Games Workshop makes it clear that while these updates make old minis usable, they’re not as carefully curated as their current set of miniatures. This means that they aren’t legal for competitive play, and you should always ask your opponent about their use if you decide to include them in a casual pickup game. The guys at Games Workshop do their best to keep things up to date, but they’re obviously not a priority due to the age.

Some pages are shorter than others. The Tyrannids, for example, has just two pages of updates, while the Space Marines have quite a few more entries to discuss. The Death Guard has just five pages of notes, with the Chaos Lord on Palanquin of Nurgle getting its own page of updates.

Head on over to the Warhammer Legends page and give your old minis some new life.
