EA has confirmed that they will no longer launch Battlefield 2042 next month and have now chosen to delay the official release date.
The good news is that the developers at DICE will not need much more time to get the final product into the hands of eager gamers.
According to a new statement released by EA, Battlefield 2042 has a new release date scheduled for November 19, 2021.
But while fans have to wait an extra month to play the full version, there is still a good chance they will get to play Battlefield 2042 before November.
That’s because EA and DICE are still planning on hosting a Battlefield 2042 open beta this year.
News on when the big playtest is happening will come later this month, according to EA and strongly suggests that something will be announced for October.
As ever, EA could choose to host its Battlefield open beta whenever it feels like it, so it will be worth keeping an eye on all the latest news being shared by the team.
The full statement from DICE and EA reads: “We’ve made the decision to shift the launch of Battlefield 2042. The game will now be released worldwide on November 19th, 2021.
“Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams.
“Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch.
“With the ongoing conditions not allowing that to happen safely, and with all the hard work the teams are doing from home, we feel it is important to take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players.
“Your enthusiasm for the game has been very inspiring. We believe in the game we’re making, and we thank you for your patience as we put some finishing touches into the experience.
“Updates on the Open Beta will be coming later this month.”
The latest reports suggest that the Battlefield 2042 open beta will happen around September 23 and will include a number of maps and modes.
Those that pre-order either the standard Battlefield 2042 on PS5 or the gold or ultimate edition will get early access to the beta.
According to the PlayStation Store, the standard version of Battlefield 2042 for the PS4 does not include early access to the beta.
Early access to the Battlefield 2042 beta is, however, offered on the standard version of the game for Xbox One.
