Plucky British developer Rebellion announced a brand new game at E3 2019 – a new instalment in the cult undead-killing franchise, Zombie Army.
The newest game, Zombie Army 4: Dead War, builds on the trilogy that came before and promises to offer more robust gameplay mechanics, better graphics, and a narrative that's more off-the-wall than ever before.
Today, the developer has given the game a formal release date – announcing that the title will land on February 4, 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
The title will push modern consoles hard, providing players with 4K graphics on PC, Xbox One X and PS4 Pro and allowing for HDR too.
Check out the new trailer below.
As per the trailer, here are just a few highlights from the game:
"The year is 1946. Europe lies in ruins, torn apart by the nefarious “Plan Z.” A brave band of heroes cast the Führer into hell but little do they know … Hitler’s Hordes are back for more!"
Face the darkness in single player or team up with friends as you blast your way through Nazi undead in this spine-chilling shooter from the makers of Sniper Elite 4.
• A horrifying new campaign for 1-4 players
• Epic weapons, skills and upgrades
• The organ-busting X-ray kill camera returns!
We got our dirty little Nazi-killing hands on the game at E3 this year, and we were impressed. You can read our full Zombie Army 4 preview at the link, but for a quick sum up… just read on below.
"We played one mission of Zombie Army Trilogy at E3 2019, and it was immediately clear that the folks at Rebellion have made each mission feel likes its own standalone movie.
"Each encounter within that being a scene that forms this tight, immediately recognisable narrative (even if your knowledge of 80s horror is patchy, you always know what Rebellion is going for)."
Needless to say, we liked it.
Look forward to seeing more of the game next year.
