Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ next free update is scheduled to arrive Jan. 28, and will feature the Festivale celebration and the return of Pavé, the Festivale-loving peacock.
The Festivale celebration will take place on Feb. 15, the day before Mardi Gras. Players will have to collect colorful feathers to witness Pavé’s festive dances. Nintendo will also add the Viva Festival Reaction Set, which can be purchased at Nook’s Cranny for a limited time and includes new reactions: Feelin’ It, Let’s Go, Viva, and Confetti. Limited-time Festivale fashion items will also be available at the Able Sisters’ shop.
Before Pavé arrives, players will also get Valentine’s Day-themed goods. Chocolate hearts and heart-shaped bouquets will be available from the Nook Stop and through Nook Shopping Feb. 1-14. Other holiday events coming in January and February include Groundhog Day and Big Game Celebration.
Pavé made his debut in Animal Crossing: City Folk, where he started bringing Festivale to the game. Festivale is the holiday inspired by Carnival, a Christian season that takes place before Lent. It’s known for bright costumes, parades, and other fun stuff — which is exactly why a peacock like Pavé is in charge of it.
