GTA fan says they’re driving nonstop until Grand Theft Auto 6 launches

A Grand Theft Auto superfan has kicked off a driving marathon around San Andreas, and says they’ll keep going until Grand Theft Auto 6 is launched.

That seems like … a long time. And it’s well more than the endurance records of the Desert Bus for Hope gang, among others, so we’re wondering if there’s an auto-driving bot at work in this thing. Such tools are available in Grand Theft Auto 5.

YouTuber 10HoursMovies alludes to “we” in the chat rollup, and says so far the marathon has made about 870 laps around the enormous San Andreas map. They are taking donations, of course, so don’t discount the monetary aspect of this stunt.

Rockstar Games hasn’t confirmed anything about Grand Theft Auto 6, though rumors and just the gut feeling that it’s been six years since 5 premiered has folks anticipating something next year. There will also be new console launches around this time next year, so most folks are optimistically banking on a launch in 2020. PC Gamer has this compilation of rumors and details (which includes this Polygon interview with Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser from back in 2013, shortly before GTA 5 hit shelves. A rumor that GTA 6 would land this year was rather quickly debunked last summer.
