Mortal Kombat 11 Kitana and D’Vorah gameplay revealed

Kitana is in Mortal Kombat 11. That’s really no surprise, considering she’s been shown in the game’s cutscenes and menus — and a live-action commercial for the game officially confirmed her inclusion on the roster earlier this week. But on Friday, Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm finally showed Kitana in action.

In Mortal Kombat 11, Kitana will always use her trademark fans. She’ll retain many of her classic moves, including her square wave attack — which is more of a flying hip check — and will even borrow a few moves from her evil twin sister Mileena. One of her variations gives Kitana access to Mileena’s sai and her teleport drop kick. Kitana also has some new moves of her own, some of which are dance-inspired, like one in which she surrounds herself with a vortex of fans.

But let’s also talk about D’Vorah for a moment. She’s the other half of today’s gameplay reveal trailer, and we see some of the Kytinn warrior’s new tricks. Unlike her debut appearance in Mortal Kombat X, this time D’Vorah’s ovipositors are always out and at the ready. She can birth bugs that birth more bugs, but her greatest trick might be her ability to fight on — even after death.

One of D’Vorah’s new moves spawns an offspring that will fight to avenge its mother. This big baby bug has its own distinct moveset; it can spit at and stab its opponent, and will hopefully make for some wild comeback moments in competitive Mortal Kombat 11.

Mortal Kombat 11 is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One on April 23.
