Persona 5: The Royal trailer focuses on its new character: Kasumi Yoshizawa

The new Persona 5: The Royal trailer reveals a little more about Kazumi Yoshizawa, one of the two new characters announced for the enhanced version of the hit role-playing game. Kazumi will be a playable character and member of the protagonist’s heist squad, The Phantom Thieves.

The trailer is brief, but shows the character’s general day-to-day life. She participates in social activities with the protagonist (aka social links): hitting at the batting cages, visiting an ABC Stores-style Hawaiian gift shop, and grabbing a meal at a cafe.

The back half of the trailer provides a glimpse at how Kazumi Yoshizawa operates in combat. During her Persona Awakening, she swaps into a Metaverse outfit and is joined by her Persona, Cendrillon. She quickly launches into an All-Out attack that features a ribbon wand. She is already my favorite.

If all of this has sounded like word collage, you might want to check out the original Persona 5, released in the States in 2017. Though Persona 5: The Royal will add new features and characters, it won’t be localized for the West, and exclusively on PlayStation 4, until 2020. That means you might have time to play the original now, which can run over 80 hours, and be ready for a second playthrough in The Royal by the time the credits roll.
