Special Force VR: Infinity War Scheduled for Steam Launch Next Week

There are a growing number of military shooters for virtual reality (VR) headsets, some good, some not so. South Korean developer Dragonfly is hoping to break into this market by reimagining an old PC title from 2004, Special Force. For 2019 the studio will launch Special Force VR: Infinity War for VR headsets compatible with Steam.

Special Force VR: Infinity War brings the storyline from its original IP, set in the near-future where a new cold war has broken out between the US, Russia and China. Because of this, the US creates the Military Alliance Force (MAF) in collaboration with allies including the EU. You’re part of this special forces unit and travel the world kicking ass.

Featuring both single-player and multiplayer modes, Special Force VR: Infinity War seems to be geared more towards the latter, with the studio mentioning a future focus on ‘the VR e-sports market’. The multiplayer supports up to 8 people, with modes including Single DeathMatch, Team DeathMatch and Demolition. Supporting complete free movement for ultimate versatility, the title has a variety of characters denoted as Delta Force, Night Fox, Max and Spetznaz, each with their particular specialities in the field.

Of course, a military shooter requires plenty of firepower which Special Force VR: Infinity War isn’t short of. There is the usual assortment of assault rifles, pistols, sniper rifles, grenades, even knives if you so choose, plus ancillary items like smoke bombs.

Special Force VR: Infinity War is scheduled for release on 8th August 2019 via Steam, supporting Oculus Rift/ Rift S, HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality and Valve Index headsets. The studio does have plans to bring the title to Oculus Store in 2019 as well as a version for PlayStation VR this year. VRFocus will continue its coverage of Special Force VR: Infinity War and Dragonfly, reporting back with the latest updates.
